Gregarious and opportunistic, the robin is a charming companion when gardening. Go out into the garden and start digging in the borders and before long you'll probably have a robin for company, possibly coming within a couple of feet searching for delicious goodies that you may have disturbed. I was nailing a new felt roof on my shed at the weekend and he was up there with me even though I was unlikely to unearth edible treats. Maybe he just likes the company – I certainly do.
