At this time of year, as the weather starts to turn colder the birds seem to really go into overdrive feeding themselves up on anything going. The feeders have been swamped, and the berries on the Pyracantha are being stripped at a rate of knots, most obviously by blackbirds peeking out from between the thorny branches. This is a female blackbird in the picture, as evidenced by the dark brown, slightly mottled colouration and dark bill. The male is uniformly black with a bright yellow bill.
